The Classic Bakery is located in Walnut Creek, CA. We are a local bakery and serve the communities within Contra Costa County. Our baker is Susan Stimmel. Here's her story:
Why I Bake
There is nothing more gratifying than making food that people love, and knowing that the time and care I pour into a pie, coffee cake, cookie, or scone results in…happiness. Yes, happiness. For what I bake and sell is happiness. Not forever, not earth shaking; but for a few minutes, people can pull back from the stress, the frenzy, the cares, and just enjoy what I have crafted. That gives me tremendous joy. It gave me joy when I cooked for my family, and it gives me joy now to bake for others.
My greatest challenge was how to make the volume I do and still retain that deeply-held connection to the food and to my customers? It is one thing to bake for family and friends, but how can I do that by the dozen in business? I decided that what mattered was not volume, but the care and craft that goes into the process. As I am baking, I think of a family at home eating what I have made...or in a restaurant smiling over a slice of my pie. That makes me feel as deeply happy as when I made the same fare for my own family.
I hope you will find that same loving care in all of what I do. Let me know if you don’t…for that’s why I do this.
Delivery Rates
Delivery Rates: For your convenience, we offer a delivery service to customers within the Lamorinda, Concord, and Walnut Creek areas. A $50 minimum purchase is required for delivery. We offer Free Delivery to Walnut Creek addresses; and outside of Walnut Creek, the delivery fee is $1 per mile, based on the distance estimates of Google Maps.
